AS A PART OF FAME WEEK AFRICA, CITY OF CAPE TOWN, FAME WEEK AFRICA, EMERGING ARTISTS, V&A WATERFRONT AND THE JUSTICE DESK COMBINED FORCES TO PUT THE STORIES OF EMERGING ARTISTS ON DISPLAY.
Launch at the V&A Amphitheatre
The launch was celebrated on Monday 15 August at the V&A Amphitheatre. Councillor Patricia van der Ross paid tribute to the women of South Africa, their journey and the strength they portray every day. She went on to thank the artists, her team and the organizations for their support. She thanked and congratulated the artists on contributing to the arts. Patricia also highlighted the beauty and popularity of Cape Town as tourist and arts attraction.

Van der Ross extended an invite to the public to view and support the work of the artists.
Cape Town the Los Angeles of South Africa
FAME Week Africa’s Event Director, Judy Goddard, took the stand and agreed with Councilor Van der Ross that Cape Town is indeed a popular choice for the industry and went on to say that: “… Cape Town is the LA of South Africa.”
Goddard proudly announced that, at the time, about 50% of the artist’s work had been sold, but mentioned that the work can be viewed on the Fame Week Africa portal. From 24-26 August FAME Week Africa will create a space at the CTICC for creative industry professionals on the Africa continent to network, share knowledge and gather.
