White Sand and Open Beaches

That is the beauty of the coastal town Paternoster on the West Coast. It is one of the oldest fishing villages on the West Coast and is situated 15km north-west of Vredenburg and 145km north of Cape Town, at Cape Columbine between Saldanha Bay and St Helena Bay.

Driving through town you are met with bright white homes, fishing boats and crayfish being sold on the corners. Here walks on the beach start from long before the sun shows its bright face and sundowner walks is just as popular.

What to do in Paternoster

Besides spending as much time as possible on the beach? Well, in town you can visit the well-known At Botha’s art gallery. Book an art class and explore your creativity under the guidance of At himself.

Staying with the arts, The Koelkamer Theatre offers shows of performing artists and singers.

Want to see more of the Paternoster scenic? Visit the Columbine Nature Reserve and Cape Columbine Light House. With prior arrangements you can go up the lighthouse. In the mood for a more thrilling scenic tour? Then A 2-hour beach buggy trip will ensure an informative beach ride.

For the more adventurous Paternoster has water and land activities on offer. Enjoy an hour guided kayaking tour or ride effortlessly on an e-bike. You are further spoilt with the options of horse riding, boat trios, pottery classes and learning the craft of leather making.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating and drinking spots. From beach front to in-town establishments, enjoy a meal and refreshments while just drinking in the moment.
